Using Constructive Feedback as an Employee Development Tool

2 hour instructor-led workshop
For people leaders

Being a manager is not an easy job, and most will agree that being successful requires a diverse set of skills including communication, listening, and feedback skills. Although establishing clear expectations is the foundation of any performance management process, many managers feel ill equipped to address performance concerns when an employee fails to meet these expectations. This workshop is designed to help participants develop the skills to create an effective performance improvement plan, and tips for how to communicate this plan in a manner that promotes employee development

Learning objectives

Participants will learn to:

  • Understand how constructive feedback regarding a performance deficiency differs from a coaching conversation.
  • Utilize a five step process to develop a performance improvement plan for employees who demonstrate performance concerns
  • Identify strategies to assess the root cause of a developing performance concern
  • Practice giving feedback to employees through role-playing exercises
